The first of three preliminary hearings for a Montrose area man charged with multiple sexual assault offenses was held Monday.

Charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and aggravated indecent assault against George Humber Jr., 56, Montrose, were bound over for trial to the Susquehanna County Court of Common Pleas.

The victim, who was about 12 years old at the time of the alleged January 2007 incident, took the stand at Monday’s hearing.

She said she was visiting Humber’s home when he called her up to his bedroom and told her to sit down on his bed.

The victim, now 15 years old, said Humber pulled down her pants, and forced her to lie down on the bed, holding her down with one arm.

She said Humber performed oral sex on her and then digitally penetrated her vagina before she was able to push him off her. The victim said Humber told her not to tell anyone about the incident.

Humber’s attorney Michael Pisanchyn asked the girl why she didn’t tell the other children at the home at the time about the incident.

“I didn’t tell them because you don’t tell kids that,” said the teen.

A preliminary hearing date has not yet been scheduled in the other two cases.

Humber is being held at the Susquehanna County Correctional Facility in lieu of $750,000 bail or 10 percent cash equivalent.
