A Susquehanna County jury deliberated for two hours Thursday before finding a Springville man guilty of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child.
Randy Allen Barker, 31, was charged July 28, 2008, by state police at Gibson.
In the daylong trial in Susquehanna County Court, the child, now 7 years old, testified to being blindfolded by Barker on the day of the incident.
The Susquehanna County Independent does not identify victims of sexual assault.
The child's mother, state Trooper Greg Deck and Delores Davis, a former Susquehanna County Children and Youth Services caseworker, also took the stand for the prosecution.
Defense attorney Nandakumar Palissery called only Barker to the stand. Barker denied the charge and gave an alternate explanation for the use of the blindfold and the incident.
In his closing argument, Palissery likened the prosecution's case to a used car salesman who left many questions unanswered.
Susquehanna County District Attorney Jason Legg said, "Make no mistake, this case is not about a used car, it's about a little girl."
Barker remains in Susquehanna County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bail while awaiting his Jan. 21, 2010 sentencing.
