Although it was labeled as graduation, it was a bigger time Thursday night for awards for the Susquehanna County Career and Technology Center in Dimock.
Elk Lake’s Katelyn Chambers who also completed an SCCTC course of studies in business education gave the graduate remarks.
She gave special attention to classmate Cody Bennett who placed higher than her in state competitions, but Chambers who was also Elk Lake’s salutatorian, was introduced as the recipient of one of the first Roy Piper Scholarships which provided for all of her expenses for four years at Keystone College.
She thanked the great support system that SCCTC provided all students, and encouraged them to be successful by staying passionate in whatever calling they chose while keeping a smile on their faces.
A positive attitude also was reinforced by SCCTC director Alice Davis who told her soon-to-be former charges to look challenges squarely in the face.
“If you believe there is no way you can do something, make one,” she said. “The future is yours.”
