The two-month suspension of a local police chief’s driver’s license ended Tuesday.

Montrose Borough Police Chief Dale Smith’s license was suspended for unlawfully passing a school bus with its red flashing signal lights on.
The incident occurred Dec. 5, 2008, after 5 p.m. near the HoMart gas station on Church St., Montrose.
The bus, driven by Dennis Bunnell, was traveling west on the street and Smith was heading east, according to the bus driver’s report to state police.
Smith was found guilty by Susquehanna County President Judge Kenneth Seamans in the Court of Common Pleas on May 20, 2009.
Montrose Mayor John Wilson said that during the license suspension, Smith has been doing administrative work and riding along with other officers on patrol.
