A full three years after flood waters ravaged New Milford borough’s bridges park work crews are soon expected to begin the flood repair projects.

Equipment has already been brought to the bridge sites, according to New Milford Council at the July 2 meeting, and work on the park is scheduled to commence this week.

At the June 18 council meeting, council awarded the bid for the park project to Stark Enterprises for $121,993.15. Nine contractors bid on the project. Stark Enterprises offered the lowest bid.

The two bridges on Church St. and the Maple Street bridge have been closed since the June 2006 flood. Bridge repairs must be completed in October, according to the contracts.

In other July meeting business, council voted to send a barking dog ordinance and a trash burning ordinance to the borough solicitor for review.

At the August council meeting, a representative from the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs is expected to attend to pay homage to New Milford Borough’s sesquicentennial.
