Multiple rape charges filed against Montrose man

Police charged a Montrose area man with multiple felony counts of rape and other charges stemming from the allegations of three victims regarding incidents that allegedly occurred during the past nine years.
George Humber Jr., 56, was charged on May 8 by Trp. Craig Purdum with 50 counts each of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and aggravated indecent assault.
Bail was set at $250,000 or 10 percent cash. Humber failed to past bail and was remanded to the Susquehanna County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing is scheduled on May 15 in district court.
Humber stands accused of engaging in sex acts in November 2000-01 with someone under the age of 13 and in January – March 2007 with someone under the age of 16.
He also stands accused of raping an adult woman on multiple occasions from October 2005 to November 2006. Incidents allegedly occurred at Humber’s residence and in other locations during that time period.
