First baby of New Year

Susquehanna County’s first baby of 2010 was born Jan. 1 at Barnes-Kasson Hospital in Susquehanna. Proud parents, Jaimy Watson and Jason Birtch, are here with their new baby, Lily Ann.
The first 20010 baby born in a Susquehanna County hospital arrived right on schedule, Jan. 1, at Barnes Kasson Hospital, Susquehanna.
Lily Ann Birtch, daughter of Jaime Watson and Jason Birtch, New Milford weighed in at 5 pounds, 15 ounces and measured 18 and a half inches long. Lily Ann was delivered by Dr. Warren Dewitt and was welcomed home by a 6-year old sister. Alexis.
Among the many grandparents and great-grandparents on hand to admire the beautiful new baby are the maternal grandparents, Mark and Julie Roberts, New Milford, and paternal grandparents, Brian and Janet Birtch, also of New Milford; Jean and Ed Bitler, New Milford; Rose English, Hallstead; and Jennings and Betty Birtch, Hallstead.
With only one Susquehanna County hospital with an obstetrical unit it has been known to take as long as a week following the new year to record the first birth but this year Lily Ann made her appearance on the right day.
