An Auburn Township home owned by Philip and Sara Wood, about five miles north of Meshoppen, was gutted by fire Saturday morning.
Good Will Fire Company Chief Scott Fisher said a neighbor of the Woods, called the fire in around 9:30 a.m., and no one was in the house at the time of the fire.
A pet dog was able to get out, although three other dogs may have been in the house at the time of the fire, according to the Woods’ son, Allen Mosher.
The house is located near the village of Transue, just off of SR3003 north of its intersection with Coburn Hill Road.
Fire companies from Laceyville, Meshoppen and Rush Township responded with Wyalusing on standby.
