County fills open slots

The Susquehanna County Commissioners, at the Jan. 27 meeting, upped the money requested from the Department of Community Economic Development for Scattered-Site Housing Rehabilitation projects to $500,000.
Originally, the county authorized the Susquehanna County Housing/ Redevelopment Authority to file an application for $407,000 in funds.
The commissioners awarded a $15,394 HVAC maintenance contract to Tri-Cities Temperature Control, Inc., Binghamton, N.Y., for contract work from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2011.
Paul Johnson, of Montrose, was hired as the Assistant 911 Communications Coordinator.
The new full-time, non-union position was created in the department in the past month.
The commissioners also revived the Susquehanna County Industrial and Commercial Development Authority. The following people were appointed to the authority: Jerry Franceski, Dave Baker, Gary Marcho, Roger Doolittle, Debbie Dissinger, Rick Soden and Janice Bevacqua.
The commissioners also acknowledged the hiring by of Shawn P. Joyce by President Judge Kenneth Seamans. Joyce was hired to the open Judicial Law Clerk position, effective Jan. 19.
Commissioner Michael Giangrieco announced the county was looking for people to serve on a Bicentennial Committee. The county turns 200 on Feb 21. Anyone interested in serving on the committee is asked to contact the commissioners.
